Biography

Carlos Riofrío received his undergraduate degree (summa cum laude) in physics from Escuela Politécnica Nacional in Quito, Ecuador. As a Fulbright scholar, he received his MSc (2007) and PhD (2011) from the University of New Mexico in the USA. His research was related to modeling, controlling, and measuring atomic ensembles prepared for quantum information purposes.

Since the fall of 2012, he has been a postdoctoral fellow (Dahlem International Postdoc Network fellowship) at the Freie Universität Berlin as part of the Dahlem Center for Quantum Complex Systems. His research focus is quantum system identification, in particular, novel techniques for quantum tomography and signal processing.
